Happy New Year everyone!
I’m still working on my portfolio (application #1 Due next Saturday!) but I wanted to post an update on it. My latest project was just completed today. It’s a cover for a manga, specifically I manga I wrote myself. Do you remember the very first project I worked on when I started this blog? The fairytale manga (which now has a title: “La Plume”)? In case you don’t, here are links to the posts to refresh your memory, or to introduce you to the project: Page 1 and Page 2
The image below is what the cover for it would look like. The first is the lineart and the second is the finished product.
What do you think? I included specific flowers for their meaning. Forget-me-not (little blue ones on her dress) for remembrance, Phlox (little pink ones on her dress) for sweet dreams and Plumeria (the big ones in circles behind her) for love.
The hardest part of this particular project was picking the colors. I’m getting better with color, but I’m still not where I’d like to be. Compared to the very first pieces I colored digitally, it’s a huge difference.

"La Plume" Process
Homie, you should post the process on DA showing the stills! I think that'd be a great post, and would probably get some hits :)
ReplyDeleteLol maybe I should :D It'll be my next deviation then. I'll submit it as soon as I hand in my application this friday.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on getting into grad school!
ReplyDeleteThanks! As luck would have it, I did get in. Yes!
